Combined Sword - Weapon Design Job

Another commission work for weapon designing. At first I think it was kind of weird, but eventually the concept and design grows on me.

So the prompt was a blade that can split into two other blade. The user has the power of the sun therefore there should be a hint of anything sun-related.

At first I made the sword designs based on the sun and how it is portrayed in old illustrations -- as in, circle with squiggly lines around it. And in result, the design was kind of same-ish.

But then I decided not to just focus on "The Sun" itself, but instead on the aspects of the sun, as in, what makes the sun "The Sun". And I came up with these.

Agni & Bagascara, Blades of Scorching Sunflare

Based from the sun as a massive flaming ball of nuclear fission. Agni means fire, and bagaskara means, well, the sun. Design tone is the curl depicting its flares.

The Sunflare Blade. This two-hander can split into two sword; one red and one yellow.

Bagascara, the Yellow Sword of the Sunflare. Yellow blade with the power of light.

Agni, the Flaming Sword of the Sunflare. Activated version of the red sword. Leaves a trail of flames when swung, inflict burn damage.

Bagascara, the Shining Sword of the Sunflare. Activated version of the yelow sword. glows brightly leaves a trail of blinding light. Effective against undead.

Initial designs for the Sun blade. The client choose a mix between the 4th blade, but with 3rd handle and hilts. They also comments on liking the guard section of the 2nd design.

Grayscale of the design. The blade was not necessarily made of metal, so I made the render a bit unclear on the blade part.

Option for the splitted blade. It was a magical blade, so the split version does not necessarily had to be the exact half of the blade. They went with the first design for this one.
